Vampire Diary Cover vs. Wicked Lovely

Okay, I'm curious. Everyone keeps talking about Vampire Diaries and to be honest I always avoided it just because the lettering on the covers seemed cheesy and kiddish. I know I know, great decision making skills, but hey covers do it for me. Take for example the cover of Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr. The moment I saw it I picked up the book. It sounded interesting so read it and of course loved it. But I still have no idea what the Vampire Diaries is about. The covers just never did it for me. Only now am I actually interested because it has become a t.v. series and my friend keeps recommending it. So guys. Should I go for it or not even bother with it?

Let's see...
Came out way before Twilight. That's a plus, but it only recently got attention because of Twilight.

One of my friends enjoys this series.

Shouldn't judge a book by its cover, although covers are very marketable tools nowadays.

All I can say is, depend on the plot summary and the back and read the first page to see whether or not you believe it'll engage you. That's how I judge a book, that and the title of the book also catches my eyes. Covers are a plus for me, but they don't necessary draw me in.

You know, I know they say to never judge a book by it's cover, but I always do! There are so many books these days vying for attention, I figure if they can't make it interesting before I even pick it up, why bother? I'm glad I'm not the only one turned off by a bad cover...

I started reading it cause Kathy bought the book. I still haven't finished it. The author's style does nothing for me--I love the t.v. show though...and the newly released editions of VD are prettier. *shrug*

and yes...WL has a AWESOME cover :)
