| I figured I'd add this picture for two reasons. 1) I've just learned about the magic of Instagram 2) My outfit has a Greek theme, which works perfectly with my latest WIP. |
My latest WIP is a modern retelling of one of the Greek myths, except ya know I take the ONE happy myth in Greek mythology and butcher it. That's the fun in writing, we can do whatever we'd like as long as we have the gull to back it up and make sure it makes sense. I've also done something entirely new, (yes, I'm going to toot my own horn) I've written from the male POV. All those nights listening to college guys interacting and yelling at the T.V. totally came in handy.
Also, as you may have noticed in my last post--I made it into the Writer's Voice contest--*fingers crossed* that I get chosen!
So I ask--where is everyone at today with their writing?

I'm starting a new WIP, which is always fun. I'm only 8K in and I'm already writing out of order. LOL
LOL already? Sheesh! Do you normally write like that? I do it rarely but usually only once I start getting deeper into it. Does it help you?
I also just started a new WIP, but I'm still in the research phase where I write out all my backstory. So no actual words toward end goal yet.
I'm freewriting and outlining a sequel to my YA thriller, Fireseed One. And I'll be teaching creative writing in Greece for two weeks in June. Since I'll be there, I think I may have students do a freewrite that develops an updated Greek myth, or deals with one of the gods, in our setting on a Greek island. Sarah what genre is your new WIP? The research can be tedious--I wanted to start a historical after this but may hold off and do a contemp. romance once I finish the latest WIP. Lol research can be scary--but totally fun. Good luck!
--Catherine! Greece? That sounds SO exciting. I wonder what students who've grown up surrounded by the remnants of Greek myths would write on the subject? If you were my teacher I'd be pretty darn happy with that assignment! :)
I'm not sure if you follow my blog, but my sci-fi novella 'Chasing Lucifer' is nearing the conclusion! (jamesfunfer.blogspot.com). The sequel to Crystal Promise is at about 46k...I should be a lot further but we had a beerfest up here this weekend so it was kind of a bust in terms of getting anything productive accomplished. Still! I'm back at it today, and really glad to hear things are going so well with your own WIP!
I'm trucking along with the WIP. Editing as I go because I realized I cannot avoid editing, so I figured it was a part of my writing process. I'll get to THE END eventually. But right now, it's a bit slow.
